Downings give to inspire others In his years as Oakland University faculty member and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, David Downing has seen how important new ideas can be. With that in mind, he and his wife have established the Jane and David Downing Distinguished Programs Endowment. Through a $150,000 bequest, the couple created this fund to support programs of excellence and provide seed money for new initiatives in the college, whether instructional, research-oriented or creative. Families and children to benefit from autism grantJack’s Place for Autism, a metro Detroit nonprofit organization, is working with Oakland University’s School of Education and Human Services to create one of the nation’s first campus-based autism centers.
