10/2012 - Ben Bennett-Carpenter, Ph.D., special lecturer in the Department of Writing and Rhetoric and the Integrative Studies program, was elected to the executive committee of the Michigan Academy of Science, Arts, and Letters at the September 12, 2012, meeting at Hope College in Holland, Michigan. Dr. Bennett-Carpenter was elected for a three year term (2012-2015) as Member-at-Large. The president of the Michigan Academy announced that Oakland University will host the annual conference in 2014.

10/2012 - Ben Bennett-Carpenter,
Ph.D., special lecturer in the Department of Writing and Rhetoric and in the Integrative Studies program, and David Maines, Ph.D., professor of Sociology and former chair of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, along with Michael McCallion, Ph.D., chair of Catholic Social Analysis at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit, published the article "Individualism and Community as Contested Rhetorics in the Catholic New Evangelization Movement."
