Welcome from the Vice Provost, Dorothy A. Nelson
Dorothy Nelson, as Vice Provost for Research, provides leadership and advocacy for research at Oakland University, inclusive of all disciplines. Her goal is to enhance the research enterprise, and increase research funding and productivity, in order to advance knowledge and discovery. The following objectives are essential to achieving this goal: the provision of a supportive and efficient infrastructure for investigators; involvement of students in research; stimulation and continuity of multidisciplinary and multi-institutional collaborations; support for existing programs; the establishment of innovative programs; and encouragement of entrepreneurial initiatives.
Dr. Nelson is committed to the highest ethical standards in the conduct of research, which are essential for sustaining an excellent research program that is attractive to federal sponsors and industry partners, as well as being responsive to the community’s needs.
