A. Information Items
1. Addition of a focus group to the WHP degree to accommodate a double major with psychology. Approved by UCUI.
2. Industrial Health and Safety. The name of this program has been changed to Occupational Safety and Health. Name change and curriculum adjustments
3. R. N. to M. S. N. School of Nursing program combining undergraduate and graduate programs. Approved by the Graduate Council and UCUI.
4. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Second Degree. Allows students with a baccalaureate in another discipline to earn the BSN in 12 months. Approved by UCUI.
5. For the past several years, the Academic and Career Advising Committee and the Admissions and Financial Aid Committee have been underutilized. From September 2004 through January 2005, these two committees will meet jointly with several additional appointed members as the ad hoc Student Affairs Committee. In January 2005, after this trial period, the Steering Committee may propose making the Student Affairs Committee a Standing Committee of the Senate with expanded charges, replacing the Academic and Career Advising Committee and the Admissions and Financial Aid Committee. Nominations of faculty members to serve on the ad hoc Student Affairs Committee are included under New Business at this meeting of the Senate.

1. Motion from the Steering Committee on upper and lower division transfer credit. (Mr. Maines)
MOVED that transfer credit from lower division courses (100 and 200 level) at other colleges and universities cannot count as upper division credits (300 and 400 level) at Oakland University.
First reading: Debatable, amendable, but not eligible for final vote at this meeting.
Comment: This motion is presented at the recommendation of the Registrar and the University Committee on Undergraduate Instruction.
2. Motion from the Steering Committee to add the Director of Graduate Study as a ex officio member of the Planning Review Committee. (Mr. Tracy)
MOVED that the Director of Graduate Study be added to the membership of the Planning Review Committee ex officio and non-voting.
Comment Graduate programs continue to be a growing and dynamic part of long-range planning.

Comment: The names listed above, drawn principally from volunteer lists, reflect the Steering Committee's current expectations about committee membership. Veteran senators will not be surprised to find corollary motions on subsequent agendas to replace members who will be on leave. Faculty who wish to volunteer for Senate standing committees may still make their wishes known to the Steering Committee and will be considered as vacancies arise. When considering the overall balance of these committees, it is important to remember that most have student and administrative members as well as faculty elected by the Senate.
