Oakland University Senate
First Meeting
September 19, 2002
Oakland Room - Oakland Center
3:10 p. m.
Agenda
Respectfully submitted by Virinder Moudgil for the Steering committee.
A. Information Items
1. Report and update - Mr. Russi
2. Cooley Law School Update - Mr. Moudgil
3. General Education Reminders - Mr. Moudgil
4. The Senate's advice is being sought regarding committee memberships and minor changes in administrative titles. When administrative titles change, does the Senate wish to deal with them through formal motions to update the membership rosters or may such changes be made editorially without formal Senate action. The Senate would be advised of such changes when they occur. For example, on the Campus Development and Environment Committee the membership specifies the Associate Vice President for Facilities Management, Capital Planning and Design. The title is now Associate Vice President for Facilities Management. Normally updating this would require a formal motion and two readings. The Steering Committee proposes that such changes could be made by the Secretary without formal Senate action. There are two others: on the Senate Planning Review Committee the Director of Institutional Research and Development is now the Director of Institutional Research and Assessment; on the Senate Budget Review Committee the Director of Budget is now the Director of Budget and Financial Planning.
