1. Motion from the Steering Committee to recommend approval of the Ph. D. in Mechanical Engineering (Mr. Frick, Mr. Latcha)
MOVED that the Senate recommend to the President and the Board approval of a program leading to a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering.
Second reading: Debatable, amendable, and eligible for final vote.

2. Motion from the Steering Committee to endorse the Oakland University Profile 2010.( Ms. Schott-Baer)
MOVED that the Senate endorse the Oakland University Profile 2010.
Second reading: Debatable, amendable and eligible for final vote. .
Comment: The current Vision 2010 document is available here
. The Senate Planning Review Committee has been asked to review and comment on the document.
D. New Business
1. Procedural motion to recommend that the Provost appoint an ad hoc committee to study possible collaboration with the Thomas M. Cooley Law School. (Mr. Khapoya)
MOVED that the Provost appoint an ad hoc committee to study possible collaboration with the Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
Procedural motion: Debatable, amendable and eligible for final vote.
2. Procedural motion from the Steering Committee to authorize an additional meeting (Ms. Mukherji)
MOVED that the Senate meet on May 2, 2002, in order to consider the following items if still pending:
a. motion to recommend approval of a Ph. D. in Mechanical Engineering
b. motion to endorse the Oakland University Profile 2010
Comment: This additional meeting is needed only if these two items of old business remain pending
