1. Motion from the Senate Planning Review Committee regarding public school academies (Mr. Bertocci)
MOVED that the Senate recommend to the President and the Board the approval of the Southgate Summit Academy.
First reading: Debatable, amendable but not eligible for final action.
Comment: A summary of the Academy’s application is enclosed along with the recommendations of the Senate Planning Review and Senate Budget Review Committees. Copies of the complete application may be viewed in the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Due to time constraints, if a second reading of this motion is necessary, it will take place at an additional special meeting of the Senate on January 15, 1998 in Gold Rooms B & C, Oakland Center. Since the Board of Trustees University Affairs Advisory Committee will be meeting on January 20th to consider this academy, the regularly scheduled January 22 meeting of the Senate would be too late to provide Senate input.
