B. Old Business
1. Motion from the College of Arts and Sciences to approve a new Constitution. (Mr. Downing, Mr. Andrews)
MOVED that the Senate recommend to the President and the Board approval of the new Constitution of the College of Arts and Sciences.
Second reading: Debatable and eligible for final vote at this meeting. Not amendable under Senate protocol for constitutions.
Comment: The revised constitution was distributed to all Senators along with the agenda for the meeting of February 15. A memorandum (2/15/96) detailing a "Sense of the Assembly" relating to the selection of chairpersons was distributed to the Senate at the February 15th meeting as background information; the text appears in the February 15 minutes.
2. Motion from the Graduate Council (Mr. Dahlgren, Mr. Tower)
MOVED that the Senate recommend to the President and the Board the establishment of a program in Accounting leading to the Master of Accounting (M.Acc.) degree.
Second reading: Debatable, amendable and eligible for final vote.
Comment: A copy of the proposal was distributed to Senators along with the agenda for the meeting of February 15. The proposal has the endorsement of the Senate Planning Review Committee, the Senate Budget Review Committee and the Graduate Council.
C. New Business
1. Motion from the Graduate Council (Mr. Dahlgren)
MOVED that the Senate recommend to the President and the Board the establishment of a program in Software Engineering leading to the Master of Science Degree.
First reading: Debatable, amendable but not eligible for final vote.
Comment: A copy of the main body of the proposal is was distributed to Senators along with their agendas. The proposal has the endorsement of the Senate Planning Review Committee, the Senate Budget Review Committee and the Graduate Council. The appendices are available in the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
2. Motion from the Graduate Council. (Mr. Dahlgren)
MOVED that the Senate recommend to the President and the Board the establishment of a program leading to a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Applied Mathematical Sciences.
First reading: Debatable, amendable but not eligible for final vote.
Comment: A copy of the proposal was distributed to Senators accompanied by letters from the Senate Planning Review Committee and the Senate Budget Review Committee.
