Ninth Meeting
20 April 1989
Oakland Center, Gold Room C
3:10 p.m.
AGENDA
Respectfully submitted by Keith R. Kleckner for the Steering Committee.
A. Old Business
Motion from the Steering Committee modifying transfer admissions policy on a temporary basis (Mr. Pettengill; Mr. Hough). Introduced at meeting of 13 April 1989, though not on that agenda.
MOVED that the Senate authorize the Provost to suspend the 1985 increase in the minimum number of credits required for admission of transfer students to Oakland University through the fall of 1989 if necessary to maintain the level of enrollments projected in the 1989-90 budget, and
That the Committee on Admissions and Financial Aid study the matter of transfer admission standards and make a recommendation to the Senate in fall 1989.
First Reading: Debatable, amendable, but not eligible for final vote at this meeting.
Comment: This motion was presented at the meeting of 13 April as a special resolution. In response to a motion directing the Steering Committee to call an extra meeting for deliberation on this issue, it now appears as a regular motion and is the only item of formal business for this meeting. For the information of the Senate, a partial draft of Senate minutes for the meeting of 13 April 1989 is attached to this agenda so that members of the university community can acquaint themselves with the substantive and procedural issues attending this business. These minutes are incomplete and not to be presented for adoption.
