Procedural Motion: Debatable, amendable and eligible for vote at this meeting.

Comments: The Steering Committee received 75 preference sheets from faculty interested in serving on Senate Standing Committees. Once again, the Committee has tried to accommodate the interests of faculty within the constraints of available seats on Senate committees.

3. Motion from the Steering Committee (G. Feeman)

THAT THE CHARGE TO THE FINANCIAL AIDS COMMITTEE BE MODIFIED TO READ:

"To consider, recommend, evaluate, and review all policies and procedures relative to the operation of the financial aid system and to function as an appeals board which will hear disputes between the Office of Financial Aid and applicants for and recipients of financial aid and render advisory opinions thereon."

Comment: The original charge to the Committee reads as follows:
"To consider, recommend, evaluate, and review all policies and procedures relative to the operation of the financial aid system and to hear and resolve disputes between the Office of Financial Aid and applicants for and recipients of financial aid." The recommended change emanates from the 1979-80 Financial Aid Committee (see committee annual report) and is intended to bring the charge to the Committee into line with current practice. The Committee functions as an advisory entity; it does not have the authority to "resolve" or render judgments in disputes.

First Reading: Debatable, amendable but not eligible for final vote at this meeting.

4. Discussion of Presidential Selection Activities (L. Hetenyi and D. Shantz)

5. Annual Reports of Standing Committees: 1979-80 (distributed only to Senators)

C. Good and Welfare: Private Resolutions

D. Information Items:
