MINUTES

PRESENT: Messrs. Cherno, Clarke, Davis, Dutton, Gerulaitis, Hetenyi, Lowy, Matthews, McKay, Stoutenburg, Swanson, Witt.
ABSENT: Messrs. S. Appleton, D. Black, M. Briod, Butler, Cafone, Fernald, Galloway, Gibson, Hahn, Hammerle, Harding, Hildum, Hoopes, lodice, Mittra, P.J. Johnson, Kent, Kleckner, Linsalata, Lyons, O'Dowd, Pino, Pitts, Righter, Simmons, Schwab, Susskind, Tomboulian, Torch, Vann, Varner, Williamson, Yennior, Mrs. White.

Acting Provost Obear called the meeting to order at 3:55 p.m.

Mr. Hetenyi moved to accept the minutes of May 8, 1969. Seconded by Mr. Clarke. Adopted.

New Business

* Mr. McKay moved the recommendation of the Academic Standing and Honors Committee that

 "THE MOTIONS PRESENTED BELOW BE APPROVED FOR FINAL VOTE AT THIS MEETING." Seconded by Mr. Cherno. Adopted.

* Mr. McKay moved the recommendation of the Academic Standing and Honors Committee that

"THE FACULTY OF OAKLAND UNIVERSITY AUTHORIZED THE POTENTIAL GRADUATES AT THE BACHELOR'S AND MASTER'S DEGREE LEVELS, NAMED IN A LIST TO BE DISTRIBUTED AT THE; MEETING, TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FIFTH AUGUST
COMMENCEMENT ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 16, 1969."

Seconded by Mr. Clarke.

Added to the Bachelor's list distributed at the meeting were the following names: Thomas Edward Kurz, Mathematics-Liberal Arts, Stephanie Kay Owens, Psychology-Liberal Arts, Michael Werenski, Mathematics-Liberal Arts, Rae Anne White, French-Liberal Arts, and John David Fachnie, Psychology- Liberal Arts.

Deleted from the list were Robert D. Hundley and Thomas Edmund Zaremba.

Deleted from the Master's list distributed at the meeting were the following names: Harold Douglas Colwell, Master of Arts, Adele Jean Grossberg, Master of Arts in Teaching, and Lawrence Lee Woodward, Jr., Master of Science.

Mr. Matthews stated that the list distributed with corrections had been approved by the assembly of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Motion adopted.

* Mr. McKay moved the recommendation of the Academic Standing and Honors Committee that

"UNIVERSITY HONORS BE AWARDED CONTINGENT UPON THE CONFERRAL OF THE DEGREE TO THE POTENTIAL GRADUATES NAMED IN A LIST TO BE DISTRIBUTED AT THIS MEETING."

Seconded by Mr. Cherno. Adopted.

The list of departmental honors from the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering was presented to the Senate. Mr. Clarke asked that Barbara Leigh Steeh be added to the list with departmental honors in Latin and removed from departmental honors in Classics because she had not studied both Greek and Latin, but only Latin.

Mr. Hetenyi moved the meeting be adjourned. Seconded by Mr. Cherno.
