Re: Agenda for Meeting of October 10, 1967
The next meeting of the Senate will be on Tuesday, October 10, 1967, at 3:30 p.m. in Rooms 128-29 of the Oakland Center.
A. New Business
1. Election of the 1967-69 Steering Committee (Mr. Johnson)
The Constitution of Oakland University reads as follows:
The University Senate shall have a Steering Committee composed of the Provost of the University, who shall serve as chairman, and six other Senators elected at the first Senate meeting of the fall semester. The Committee's term of office shall be two years. At least one Senator from the College of Arts and Sciences, one from the School of Engineering, and one from the School of Education shall sit on the committee, and no more than three seats shall be held by Senators from any one faculty.
The Election Committee that conducted the spring balloting for the Senate has graciously consented to supervise this election. The committee consists of Mr. Johnson, chairman; Mr. Burke; and such other senators as they may persuade to join their ranks.
B. Old Business
1. Report of Spring Semester Senate Activities
On August 10, fifteen members of the Senate met and gave initial approval to a list of candidates for Master's and Bachelor's degrees. In addition, eleven students were awarded University Honors, and twenty-six students were awarded Departmental Honors.
A second meeting of the Senate was held on August 17, with five Senators present and voting. At this meeting four students were nominated for the M.A., eight students for the M.A.T., one for the M.S., and ninety-two for the Bachelor's degree.
