Re:  Agenda for Meeting of June 17, 1963

The next meeting of the Senate will be on Monday, June 17, 1963, at 2:00 P.M. in Room 190 Science Building.

A. New Business

1. Recommendation from the Steering Committee. (Mr. O'Dowd)

Responses to a questionnaire distributed to members of the Senate on May 21 indicate that it is unlikely that 15 Senators will be available for a meeting on Tuesday, August 20, at 10:00 A.M. In order to complete the records of students who will have met all degree requirements in August, the Steering Committee submits the following motion for consideration:

The Senate establishes a seven member ad hoc Committee on Degrees and Honors and empowers this committee to act in its name in approving all degrees and honors to be awarded at the completion of the spring semester 1963.

The Steering Committee wishes to nominate the following Senators for membership in the ad hoc Committee on Degrees and Honors:

Melvin Cherno, Chairman
Harvey Burdick
Laszlo Hetenyi
George Matthews
Frederick Obear
Donald O'Dowd
Beauregard Stubblefield

The Steering Committee recommends that in August this ad hoc committee should follow the general guidelines that were established by the full Senate in April when degrees and honors were approved.

2. A report on current trends in Admission will be presented by Mr. Stoutenburg.
