RE: Agenda for Meeting of April 8, 1963
The next meeting of the Senate will be on Monday, April 8, at 4:00 P.M. in Room 126-7 Oakland Center.
A. Old Business
1. Recommendation from the Academic Affairs Committee, (Mr. Matthews)
a. Changes in the present freshman English sequence, English 101 and UC Western Literature 014-015
All students must take Western Literature UC 016-017 instead of English 101-UC 014 or UC 014-015.
B. New Business
1. Recommendation from the Academic Affairs Committee. (Mr. Matthews)
a. The paragraph on page 26 of the current Catalog regarding Public Law 229, be changed to read: "To fulfill the requirements of State law, (PL 229), all students must take:
1. Political Science (UC 052)
or
2. Any combination of two courses from the UC Social Science sequence and American History (UC 054, UC 056, UC 058, History 214, History 215). (Please refer to the attachment.)
b. Change from the existing grading system to a 42-point grading system.
(Please refer to attached memos from the Academic Affairs Committee and from Professor Burdick.)
2. Recommendation from the Committee on Scholarships. (Mr. Obear)
a. The name of the Committee on Scholarships be changed to the Committee on Financial Aids.
b. The charge be changed to the following: "To consider and recommend policies governing all financial aid to students."
c. Membership will consist of four faculty members, the Director of Scholarships and the Director of Financial Aids.
