Meeting was called to order by Mr. Varner.
Mr. Varner expressed the feeling that the accomplishments of the University during its first year were as much or more than we had the right to expect. He stated that the success was because of the supreme efforts of everyone and that he was personally grateful to each for a job well done. The image of the University was continually enhanced as each person met their daily assignments with fervor and dispatch.
Mr. Vamer informed those present that the Board of Trustees would act on salary increases next week and everyone would be notified by mail.
Plans for the library and science buildings are being finished and should be ready for bids about September 1, 1960. It is hoped that each building will be ready for occupancy by September 1, 1961.
A $30 increase in tuition for the 1960-61 school year is possible but Mr. Varner felt that the Board of Trustees would hold the line as long as they could. The increase, however, is inevitable in the near future.
Faculty acquisitions this year will be 20. We now have acceptances from 14 or 15 with 4 or 5 more in the process.
Mr. Varner explained that the dormitory plans will be completed about June 15, however, plans for financing them are less up to date. It is expected that two of the dorms should be ready for occupancy by January 1, 1961.
Mr. Fitzsimmons return was recognized by Mr. Varner and greeted by the group.
Meeting adjourned.
