Academic Peer Mentors
Academic Peer Mentors (APMs) live in the residence halls and provide academic support to fellow students. APMs encourage student success through programming, tutoring and connecting students to appropriate resources. Resident Assistants
Resident Assistants (RAs) live in the residence halls where they advise and counsel students living on their assigned floor and actively encourage a positive residential environment. They offer students advice and guidance in academic, social and financial matters and handle several administrative duties. They also help residents become acquainted with the university and residence halls community.

Hall Directors
Hall Directors manage residential living units for 300 to 600 students. They provide counseling, perform administrative tasks, discipline students, handle programming, and supervise, train and evaluate resident assistants. They live in the hall where they work.

Nightwatch Staff
Nightwatch desk workers help maintain safety by checking and scanning IDs of students and guests entering Hamlin and Vandenberg Halls between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. each day. They also sign guests in and maintain a log of guests.

Department of University Housing
The Department of University Housing has a mission to provide a safe living and learning experience that promotes a sense of community, civic responsibility and an appreciation for individual differences. The University Housing office, 448 Hamlin Hall, is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and can be reached at (248) 370-3570 or housing@oakland.edu.

Trouble Line
When room, suite, apartment or cottage repairs are needed, or when there are mechanical problems with a washer or dryer in any of the laundry rooms or apartments, students should call the 24-hour Trouble Line at (248) 370-2954 and leave a message.
