Responsibilities of Provost

The Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost is the chief academic officer of the university.  The provost advises the president on all matters pertaining to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education.  She promotes research and creative endeavors among faculty and students, and advances the public service mission of the institution.  The provost articulates a strategic vision for the division of academic affairs and sets long-range goals to achieve it. 

The provost works closely with the deans to provide learning experiences that support the successful graduation of Oakland University’s students. Academic units reporting to the provost include:  The College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business Administration, the School of Education and Human Services, the School of Engineering and Computer Science, the School of Health Sciences, the School of Medicine, the School of Nursing, Kresge Library, Eye Research Institute, and Macomb Outreach. 

In addition the provost has responsibility for leaders that oversee administrative units that contribute to the success of the mission of academic affairs and the university including:    The Associate Provost (Academics), Associate Provost (Academic Services), Vice Provost for Graduate Studies, Vice Provost for Research, and Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education.
