Autism & Nutrition Event at Whole Foods Market
How to Shop & Cook for Special Diets and Picky Eaters who have Autism Spectrum Disorder

People with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) often have restricted nutritional intake, in part due to special diets they follow (gluten-free, casein-free) and in part because they are picky eaters.  Nutritional experts from Whole Foods will discuss how to shop for groceries and cookfor people with ASD who face these diet challenges.  A Whole Foods expert will use the Lifestyles Kitchen to demonstrate how to prepare gluten-free, casein-free dishes and show how to get your loved one with ASD to eat a larger variety of healthy foods.  Sample of the foods will be offered as well as a tour of the store.  this event is designed for anyone interested in learning about nutritional challenges and special diets related to Autism.  This workshop is part of the OUCARES Evening Enrichment series of discussions in the field of autism.  OUCARES hopes to give families the chance to gain valuable information to improve the quality of life for those impacted by ASD.
There is no cost to attend.  Space is VERY limited so please RSVP by emailing oucares@oakland.edu or call 248-370-2424.
