Asperger’s Syndrome Support
Many individuals with Asperger’s Syndrome are able to attend college but are in need of specific supports to be successful. Oakland University recognizes the unique need for support, and in response, several programs have begun.
Asperger’s Panel
The Asperger’s Panel is a collaborative endeavor of Human Development and Child Studies, Disability Support Services, OUCARES, Academic Advising, Residential Living, and Counseling whose focus is to identify the needs of Asperger’s students at OU and initiate supports for these students. The panel meets regularly to discuss creative ways of providing these supports.
Counseling
The School of Education and Human Services Counseling Center provides support to families dealing with the many emotions that come with caring for an individual with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
