Summer Special Education Tutor/Musician
My name is Jacob. I have completed my Masters Degree at Northeastern Illinois University as a Learning Behavior Specialist/Special Education. I have experience working with students who are diagnosed with a wide range of disabilities such as Autism and students with learning disabilities (mild, moderate and severe). I have worked in an Instructional Autism Program as a Special Education Classroom Assistant. It was very challenging, but a rewarding experience every day. I am currently a self contained special education teacher, working with students who have specific learning disabilities. I also integrate music into learning, as my undergraduate degree is in music performance. Some other activities I focus on are as follows: vocational skills
music lessons (woodwinds and general music education), math (arithmetic, algebra, pre-algebra), language arts, reading comprehension, mnemonic devices (for memorizing formulas), read-aloud accommodations, Spanish lessons (beginner/intermediate). I LOVE what I do; I get to work with students and make a difference in their lives every day. I know how much kids struggle with learning because I struggled with learning issues at a very young age. I use strategic alternative learning techniques that are proven to be very helpful. Please provide a detailed description (via email) of your child's strengths and weaknesses/needs prior to setting up an appointment. . I am flexible with meeting times. Lessons range from $40-60. Rate varies depending on distance traveled within Oakland County jacob.a.levy@gmail.com (posted 5/28/13)

P.L.A.Y. is an intensive, cost-effective, structured intervention within the family home. To learn more about the P.L.A.Y.
