- How can I find books in the ERL?
- Click on "Find Books" from the Kresge Library homepage.
- Click on "Library Catalog" from the drop down menu.
- Click on the "Advanced" tab.
- In the "Location" menu at the bottom, select "Educational Resources Lab" from the list.
- In the "Search" menu at the top, enter your terms.
- If your search requires more than one word, change the "any of these" drop down to "all of these.
- Use the final menu to limit your search to a specific field (such as Title) if you wish.
- How do I get an ERL card so I can check out materials?
If you are an OU student, your Kresge Library/Spirit card is your ERL borrowing card. If you are an OU alumni, bring your alumni card to the ERL and a guest card will be issued. If you are none of the above, ERL guest memberships are available.
- Is there a limit to the number of items I can have checked out at one time?
Up to 8 items may be checked out at any one time.
The ERL is not a library, it is a laboratory, providing resources for Education and Human Services professionals. Materials circulate similarly to those in a library. The arrangement, however, is different and the types of materials and services available also differ.
- Can I check my e-mail from ERL computers?
Yes, all ERL computers have Internet and e-mail connections. Our laptops automatically connect to the Oakland University network for access to the Internet.
- Does the ERL have resource materials for secondary teachers?
The ERL has many resources for secondary teachers. Textbooks for grades 9 - 12, fiction and non-fiction for young adults, social studies, science, math and language arts CD ROMs, videos, reference and classroom management materials, and posters.
- Can laptop computers be checked out of the ERL?
The ERL has a small group of PAL Computers that can be checked out for use in Pawley Hall. Please check with the front desk if you would like to check one out.
- Can I print from ERL computers?
All ERL computers are connected to the OU GoPrint system. There is a charge of ten cents per page for black and white printing (gprinter16), and fifty cents per page for color printing (gprinter15). No cash is accepted. Spirit card, or Guest copy print cards are accepted. You can buy or add money to a card at the machine just outside the ERL front door.
- Do ERL computers have word processing software?
Yes, Microsoft Word.
- What presentation software does the ERL have?
ERL laptop computers have PowerPoint presentation software.
