BIS/Cooley Program

OU's Bachelor of Integrative Studies program is proud to announce a new partner program with Cooley Law that allows students to combine up to 24 credits of coursework from Cooley Law School as part of their OU bachelor’s degree in integrative studies.

Students admitted to the program who successfully complete the first 24 credits of Cooley's program will be able to transfer those credits back to OU to complete their BIS degree. They may then finish the remaining 66 credits of Cooley's program in two years or less, thus saving a full year or more of tuition and other expenses, and completing both degrees in six years

BIS/COOLEY DETAILS:

Students desiring to be admitted to the BIS/Cooley program will submit an application questionnaire to the BIS faculty council explaining how their OU coursework has formed/will form the appropriate foundation for law school (written communication, oral communication, critical thinking) and the Cooley credits plus the BIS capstone, HS 402, will comprise the BIS plan of study.

Students who have not yet been accepted to Cooley Law School may be conditionally admitted to OU’s BIS program pending the Cooley admission decision through the BIS application process.  If the student is not accepted to Cooley, the plan of study will need to be resubmitted in full for approval to the OU faculty council.

Students interested in Cooley Law School should make an appointment with a Cooley enrollment coordinator at its Auburn Hills Campus.  Students seeking admission through the Three Plus One Degree Program are admitted if they meet the criteria of Cooley’s 3/4 Admission Rule.
A student can be admitted to Cooley without a bachelor’s degree if three-quarters of the work necessary for the degree is completed.

In addition to an official transcript, the Cooley Admissions Office will need a statement from OU’s Registrar’s Office confirming 90 semester hours applicable toward a bachelor’s degree have been completed prior to matriculation at Cooley.

A student must register with the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) Law Services Credential Assembly Service (CAS) for the transcript evaluation of all undergraduate work.

Cooley will use three-fourths of the cumulative undergraduate GPA, (UGPA determined by LSAC), in calculating the Cooley index.

A student wishing to be admitted through the Three Plus One Degree Program must meet the minimum LSAT score and index required for Regular Admission. Ninety (90) semester hours must be completed and applicable towards a bachelor's degree prior to beginning coursework at Cooley Law School.  A student can begin the admission process prior to completing 90 semester hours.

Cooley’s admission formula is:

UGPA x .75 x 15 = Product
Product + LSAT Score =
187+*

 The chart below shows the LSAT score required for admission to Cooley using the unadjusted [not divided by ¾ ] UGPA ranging from 2.5 to 4.0.

Cooley Law School’s tuition merit scholarships, based upon the LSAT score, start at 147 and for Michigan residents range from 10% to 85% of tuition.  These scholarships significantly reduce the cost of a person’s legal education.

* Subject to change.
