Stephanie Swanberg, MSI, AHIP, Assistant Professor, Information Literacy & eLearning Librarian, Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine
Stephanie Swanberg joined the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine as Assistant Professor of Information Literacy and eLearning Librarian in June 2011. She received her Master of Science in Information degree from the University of Michigan School of Information and served as Special Projects Associate at the University of Michigan Taubman Health Sciences Library prior to joining Oakland University. Stephanie designs and teaches information mastery content in the Capstone and Evidence-Based Medicine courses to help medical students navigate the vast sea of biomedical information and creates faculty development workshops in information searching, evaluation, and management. She is also immersed in the School of Medicine’s service and diversity initiatives and strives to fulfill the OUWB’s community-focused mission by hosting events such as the Michigan Libraries for Life Donor Registration Drive as part of a statewide library initiative to increase organ, eye, and tissue donation on university campuses in Fall 2012. Stephanie recently published “Beyond the Web Tutorial: Development and implementation of an online, self-directed academic integrity course at Oakland University” in The Journal of Academic Librarianship. She also currently serves as Secretary of the School of Medicine’s Faculty Assembly and was recently elected President of the Metropolitan Detroit Medical Library Group.
