Contextual factors associated with evidence-based medicine learning and practice, medical informatics, faculty learning community or community of practice associated with faculty’s professional development and informal learning, effect of cognitive overload on e-learning, and use of Web 2.0 technologies in enhancing teaching and learning.

Misa Mi, Ph.D., Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine

Dr. Mi joined the OUWB School of Medicine in 2011, where she is a medical librarian. She teaches the Integrative Evidence-Based Medicine course and the Information Mastery module in Capstone. In addition, she develops and teaches a faculty development program, Information Mastery, for clinical faculty at the Beaumont Health System. She also provides in-depth reference and research consultation for students, faculty, and staff.

Dr. Mi has taught adult learners in different settings for 22 years, has published more than a dozen peer-reviewed works and is a senior member of the Health Information Professional of the Medical Library Association. She is actively involved in a number of professional associations and served as chair for various committees in these organizations.

Previously, Mi was a faculty member in the Department of Family Medicine at University of Toledo’s College of Medicine. There, she served as a medical librarian at the Mulford Health Science Library, coordinating library education activities and directing an elective course for fourth year medical students. She was also a senior information resources specialist at the Children's Hospital of Michigan.
