Presidential Diversity Award

The Presidential Diversity Award recognizes a faculty member who promotes diversity inclusion on campus. The award recipient receives $500, acknowledgement at a Board of Trustees meeting and additional recognition.

The 2008 recipient is Dr. Chaunda Scott.

Scott is an Associate Professor of Education. She has been a tireless leader in the area of diversity inclusion since she came to the University in 1998 as a part-time instructor. Scott founded the ‘Diverse Voices Conference’, now in its 11th year. The Conference invites students from area universities to speak on the importance of valuing all aspects of human diversity inclusion. Due to the efforts of Scott, the Conference has grown tremendously over the years, from 50 to several hundred.
