This document will explain how you can change your
Banner password. You will be forced to change your Banner password every
90 days, but you can change your Banner password anytime within the 90
days. Please be aware that your Banner password is different than your
ADMNET password. This document explains how to change your Banner
password, not how to change your ADMNET password.
Step
1: You will need to log into Banner to change your Banner password.
Each database has a different password. For example if you change your
password for PROD, this change will not take effect for the Banner test
database. You have to change the password in each database separately if
you wish to keep them all the same. To begin, log into Banner as you
normally would. If you have submitted one or more sleep/wake processes,
such as a schedule, transcript, or receipt printing process, you must
stop those processes before continuing, to avoid locking your Banner
account.
Step
2: Select “Change Banner Password” Select “Change Banner Password” in
the right-hand column under My Links of the homepage. A dialog box is
shown below.
Step 3: Change Your Password A dialog box such as the one shown below lets you change your password.
Type
your existing password into the Oracle Password: field. Type your new
password into both the New Oracle Password: and the Verify Password:
fields.
Your password must be at least 8 characters in length and should meet the following guidelines: Characters should include:
- Letters (a, b, c, A, B, C, etc.); however, note that case is ignored in Banner passwords.
- Numbers (1, 2, 3, etc.).
- and MAY include the underscore special character (‘_’); however, no other special characters are allowed.
- Passwords must use at least 2 letters and 2 numbers.
- Numbers or the underscore must not be the first or last character in the password.
- No consecutive repeating characters may be used, for example: (mm, 44, , etc.)
- Examples of strong passwords: h4p_pyday, h31L0_u, go0d_dAy, t1tanIc
Click Save icon to apply password change.
Step
4: Verify the Password Change You will get a message that says
“Password has been changed, reconnecting”. Click on OK. Next, you may
get an error saying that a “connection could not be made”. Click on OK.
You will see the logon screen reappear. Type in your Banner login name,
your new password, and your database and you should be able to access
the system.
