Oakland University uses two different accounts to manage student records.
- The first is a Grizzly ID account. Every student is assigned a Grizzly ID # (G00XXXXXX). This account can be used to access SAIL and register for classes, view transcripts, manage your tuition payments, and check financial aid. This is a private account # and should not be shared with others.

The second account is the NetID. This is the same as your Email account. If your email is jsmith@oakland.edu , your NetID is jsmith. This is the account that is used for public communication between the university and the student. You use this account to log in and access all services available to students including Moodle, Webmail, and SAIL.
Grizzly ID accounts never expire, NetID accounts expire one year after you have taken classes. If it has been more than one year since you last attended classes, you will be unable to log into the https://mysail.oakland.edu website with a NetID. Choose a link below depending on your status:
Students who have Registered within the last year.
To begin using computing resources at Oakland University, you need a Grizzly ID number and a NetID which includes email. Please note that the Grizzly ID number and the NetID are NOT related to your Spirit Card, and the number on your Spirit Card is not usable to access computing resources.
Step 1: Get your Grizzly ID Number and PIN
- You can obtain your Grizzly ID number at any student service office with proper identification.

You can look up your Grizzly ID in the SAIL system. Navigate to http://www.oakland.edu/ and click SAIL in the upper right-hand corner of the page. Enter your NetID username and password and click Login. Then, on the top of the page click on the Academics tab and select the My Details option.Your Grizzly ID number is displayed on that page under GID.

Your default PIN is 6 digits. If you do not know your PIN, click on the link and follow the instructions at https://www2.oakland.edu/secure/grizzid/resetpin/ If you cannot remember your Pin Hint answer, contact Helpdesk AT Oakland DOT edu and request that the question be reset.

Students who have not Registered within the last year.
If you have not registered in the last year, your NetID has been removed. You will not be able to log in using your NetID but you can still log in with your Grizzly ID and PIN. After you have registered, you will be issued a NetID account after one business day.

Step 2: Navigate to SAIL
Once you are logged in you can go to Student Services to Register for classes or view your transcripts. From there you can add or drop classes by clicking on Registration or view your transcripts by clicking on Student Records.
