If you are experiencing issues with VPN connection from home, please refer to the instructions in the VPN document found at https://kb.oakland.edu/uts/How_to_Access_the_VPN
Confirm the following information;
- Ensure that you have enabled Remote Desktop on your office PC. Right-click My Computer, select Properties, open the Remote tab, and select the box for "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer."
- Use your computer name and DNS suffix. (ie. ggrizz.dhe.oakland.edu). In the Start Menu, select Run. Type cmd and then click the OK button. In the window that opens type hostname and the name of your computer will be displayed. In the same window type ipconfig. Make note of the line that starts with Connection-specific DNS suffix.

Confirm the log in website at http://vpn.oakland.edu (from off-campus only). Log in with your NetID username and password.
- Use a supported web Internet browser, Internet Explorer 6/7/8/9 or Firefox 2/3 or Safari 1.0 and above.
- It is not possible to use Remote Desktop to connect to a Mac computer.
NOTE: There is a standard one-hour timeout per session due to security reason. You will need to re-connect to the VPN to continue usage.
