How to Setup Outlook 2007
- Open Microsoft Office 2007
- Click Tools
- Select Account Settings
- Click New in the Email tab.
- Enter your Name, Email address (including "@oakland.edu"), and Netid password.
- Click Manually configure server settings or additional server types.
- Click next.
- Select Internet Email and click Next
- User information:
- Verify your name
- Verify email address (including "@oakland.edu")
- Server Information
- Select the Account type (IMAP or POP)
- Enter imap.gmail.com or pop.gmail.com depending on type of account selected
- Enter smtp.gmail.com for outgoing mail server (SMTP)
- Enter user name (including "@oakland.edu")
- Click more settings
- Select the Advanced Tab
- Incoming port number for IMAP is 993 or POP is 995
- Select SSL for type of encryption connection
- Change port number to 587 for outgoing server (SMTP)
- Select TLS for type of encrypted connection:
- Select the Outgoing server tab
- Click My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and click OK
Click Next then Finish
Troubleshooting Steps
2-step verification Must be turned off.
