Job Title: Western Michigan Public Policy Field Representative
Job Description: Assist in the development of an ongoing grassroots network which supports REALTOR© advocacy programs grounded in the local, state, and national REALTOR© association structure.

Spend a day working and learning in the field with a registered lobbyist promoting real estate industry and private property rights issues within government while fostering involvement by association members within the political process. Based on your interests, activities will be structured to potentially include
  • Legislative meetings between elected officials and appropriate local REALTORS
  • Organization of REALTOR© campaign involvement
  • Research of individual member concerns and preparation of analyses of the issues and corresponding strategies
  • Acting as a liaison between the state and local association
  • Assisting the promotion of the REALTORS Political Action Committee and political involvement programs
Knowledge, Skills, and Expectations:
  1. Pursuing a degree with concentration in political science, public administration, business or communications.
  2. Experience in political or governmental field.
  3. Proven written, oral, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  4. Knowledge of the legislative process.
  5. Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize.
  6. Must be willing to spend a day traveling within west Michigan.
  7. Must dress in professional attire.

Job Description: Support the real estate industry through contact with government and the association leadership to advance REALTOR© advocacy efforts.

Spend a day working in Lansing with a registered lobbyist promoting real estate industry and private property rights issues. Make the involvement by association members within the political process a known quality. Based on your interests, activities will be structured to potentially include
  • Research of industry public policy concerns and preparation of analyses of the issues
  • Planning and implementation of Association strategy on legislative, regulatory, political and legal issues within government, including lobbying legislative and regulatory bodies
  • Discussion of industry concerns with legislators, staff, regulatory officials or other government relations professionals during visits to Committee meetings, Session or legislative offices
  • Assisting the promotion of the REALTORS Political Action Committee and political involvement programs
  • Acting as a liaison between the state and local association on public policy matters
