Goals for the New Dean
Develop a clear and attainable vision for the school that includes a distinctive identity, along with a strategic plan and related tactical actions that can be implemented to achieve it.

Develop strategies to grow in a highly competitive environment.

Develop strategies for attracting high quality high school graduates to the undergraduate programs.

Develop strategies for increasing the size and scope of the graduate programs to attract high-caliber students with diverse backgrounds. Increase the visibility of the school’s graduate programs in the region and beyond.

Enhance the profile of the school regionally. Establish goals and objectives to move toward the goal of national recognition.

Make the school a critical participant in the University’s efforts to raise its research profile.

Be an effective advocate for the school within the University and with the external community.

Be effective in attracting resources for the school from internal and external sources.

Collaborate with the SBA Board of Visitors and key alumni to enhance and deepen their interest, participation, commitment and contributions to the school.

Provide leadership to help the faculty revise its curricula to make programs innovative, current, and relevant.

Maintain and enhance student-centered experiential learning opportunities by partnering with local businesses.

Attract, reward, and retain high quality faculty. Improve incentives for high performances in scholarship and instruction. Attract resources to support scholarship.

Maintain and enhance a stimulating and collegial atmosphere that motivates faculty, staff, and students to perform at their highest levels.
