Goals for the New Dean

Develop a clear and attainable vision for the school that includes a distinctive identity, along with a strategic plan and related tactical actions that can be implemented to achieve it.

  • Develop strategies to grow in a highly competitive environment.
  • Develop strategies for attracting high quality high school graduates to the undergraduate programs.
  • Develop strategies for increasing the size and scope of the graduate programs to attract high-caliber students with diverse backgrounds. Increase the visibility of the school’s graduate programs in the region and beyond.
  • Enhance the profile of the school regionally. Establish goals and objectives to move toward the goal of national recognition.
  • Make the school a critical participant in the University’s efforts to raise its research profile.
  • Be an effective advocate for the school within the University and with the external community.
  • Be effective in attracting resources for the school from internal and external sources.
  • Collaborate with the SBA Board of Visitors and key alumni to enhance and deepen their interest, participation, commitment and contributions to the school.
  • Provide leadership to help the faculty revise its curricula to make programs innovative, current, and relevant.
  • Maintain and enhance student-centered experiential learning opportunities by partnering with local businesses.
  • Attract, reward, and retain high quality faculty. Improve incentives for high performances in scholarship and instruction. Attract resources to support scholarship.
  • Maintain and enhance a stimulating and collegial atmosphere that motivates faculty, staff, and students to perform at their highest levels.
  • Provide energetic leadership that increases the engagement of the faculty and staff in carrying out the school and university’s missions.
