University launches the Center for Undergraduate Research and Leadership (CURL)
The university has launched its new Center for Undergraduate Research and Leadership with a launch event at OU INC, at which Vice Provost for Research, Dr Dorothy Nelson, spoke about Oakland's great strengths in undergraduate research and about the exciting future for the new Center.
The launch was followed by the first CURL event -- The Challenges Forum - where students and faculty working in the IRC Collaboratory at OU INC explored ideas about Global citizenship and global exchange, with the idea of creating research projects that can now be extended and developed for presentation at the Creating Global Citizens symposium here at Oakland University of 5 April.
The Center for Undergraduate Research and Leadership (CURL) will support undergraduate research initiatives, and the key work of those actively developing undergraduate research. CURL will assist in supporting leadership and excellence among the Oakland University undergraduate community, and the qualities of creativity, innovation and social and public enterprise. Based in The Honors College, CURL aims to advance the idea that strong undergraduate research is the future of higher education, the engine powering the success of our colleges and universities and of the public and private sectors.
