Am I allowed to build a loft?
Lofts are permitted in student rooms and must be freestanding. Platform lofts (i.e., false floors) are not permitted. All building materials must be cut and/or shaped outside the building. Once a loft is put together, it must be registered by completing a Loft Registration Form. A copy of the completed form, with the signatures of all owners and appropriate staff members, must be attached to the loft in a visible location. Before building a loft, read through OU’s loft construction guidelines and check out the loft diagrams, which will help you build a loft to suit your needs. Hamlin Hall has loftable beds; other types of lofts are not allowed to be built in Hamlin.
