Basketball - Recreation Center - Oakland University

One of the most popular Intramural events at Oakland University. Intramural Basketball is available to teams of all skill levels. Whether you are looking to continue to play organized basketball, release some competitive spirit, or just get some good old-fashioned exercise, Intramural Basketball is a great sport for students, faculty, staff or Recreation Center members. Teams will play in a five game regular season, typically playing one game per week. As always, good sportsmanship is held in the highest regard. Basketball will count towards the Dynasty Award and the Athlete of the Year standings. Registration opens at IM Leagues on January 3, 2013.

Entry Deadline: Payment is due Tuesday, January 15, 2013 by 4:00 p.m. in the RAC or online. Register your team before paying by going to IM Leagues.

Fee: $25 per team due at registration; the fee is refundable at the conclusion of play barring forfeits.

Captain’s Meeting: Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. in the Wellness Classroom of the RAC

Leagues: Men’s, Women’s and CoRec options are offered

Players: 5 starters (2m/3f or 3m/2f for CoRec)

Minimum Starters: To start a game teams must have 3 players signed in (at least 1 of each gender for CoRec)

Roster Maximum: Teams can have up to 12 players on their roster

Game Length: Games consist of two 20-minutes halves and are scheduled in hour-long time slots.

Season: Teams will be scheduled 5 regular season games, teams will play only one game per week.

Playoffs: All teams can make single elimination playoffs if they meet sportsmanship requirements and do not forfeit twice.

Site: All games will be played in the 3-court gym of the RAC

Equipment: Players are recommended to wear matching shirts with numbers. All other equipment will be provided by the Intramural Sports Department.
