HC 390 Introduction to the Thesis

Instructor: Graeme Harper
Course Time: Online**
Term: Fall 2013

DESCRIPTION

The HC390 course aims to see you complete a strong, original proposal for an Honors College senior project, a proposal that can then be presented to the Honors College Council for HC Council review.

During the course you will find a mentor; write a proposal outline, including a brief description of current work in the field or area in which you have interest; establish a set of aims and objectives that you will pursue in your project; and explore the kinds of outcome or outcomes that you expect to achieve. You will also be able to produce an initial list (or bibliography) of things you might draw upon to complete your project, and to think about how this project might assist you in your future work or study.

The purpose of HC390 is to get a senior project proposal together for a project that you are excited about, and intend doing in your senior Honors College year -- and to ensure you have things in place to enjoy pursuing the senior thesis/project you will undertake.

You will be able to eventually include in a proposal that is approved for presenting to the Honors College Council any request you might have from the HC Council for thesis/project funding, if you need to include that also.

**Although this course is largely online there will be 2 mandatory class sessions: an Introductory session and a face to face appointment with an instructor.
