This course will explore the relationship between the pervasive presence of technology and its impact on privacy. Some of the topics we will discuss are:
- The meaning of privacy in the context of the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution
- The use of technology by law enforcement
- Technology in the workplace to monitor productivity
- Abatements to and the erosion of privacy in times of war and national security
- How tracking technology is being used to create a new economy
- Surveillance technologies
- The impact of social media on privacy....Is privacy old school or does it still matter in the age of Facebook?
