HC 205 The Global Citizen

DESCRIPTION:

This course identifies four different complex problems that currently serve as serious challenges for the world community.
  • Health and population
  • Natural resources and the environment
  • Diversity and identity
  • The interplay of political spheres of influence in the 21st century and varying approaches to conflict resolution

The method of instruction for this course features the problem-based learning approach (PBL), learning that is student-centered. Students will examine each problem following the same four step procedure:
  1. Define the problem
  2. Discuss what is known about the problem
  3. Identify what additional information is needed to solve the problem
  4. Review the problem in light of the new information and redefine the problem if necessary
