DESCRIPTION:
This course identifies four different complex problems that currently serve as serious challenges for the world community.
- Health and population
- Natural resources and the environment
- Diversity and identity
- The interplay of political spheres of influence in the 21st century and varying approaches to conflict resolution
The method of instruction for this course features
the problem-based learning approach (PBL), learning that is student-centered. Students will examine each problem following the same four step procedure:
- Define the problem
- Discuss what is known about the problem
- Identify what additional information is needed to solve the problem
- Review the problem in light of the new information and redefine the problem if necessary
