Step 1.
Click here to download the XMing Installer.
Install with default values.

After selecting to install the screen will look like this, leave the default values and click next.

After the install is completed there will be an entry for 'Xming' in your Start menu. Select and click “Xlaunch” to open the install wizard and create a shortcut to launch the terminal

Click Finish to complete the installation.

When the install is completed there is an entry for 'Xming' has been created in your Start menu. Go into the folder and click 'XLaunch' to bring up the wizard that will let you create a shortcut to launch the remote terminal.
Default to ‘multiple windows’

On the next screen select ‘Start a program’

'Using PuTTY (plink.exe)' and enter the server (ex. ringo.secs.oakland.edu) you are attempting to connect to as the ‘Connect to computer’ .Type your secs id in the ‘Login as user’ field, example (jdoe) and your password. XMing will not accept passwords that are longer than 14 characters, if you leave the password field blank you will be able to enter it in later when Xming is launched.) When the correct information is entered click ‘next’.

The next screen will look like the one below, just click ‘Next’ and continue.

Click ‘Save configuration’

After Save Configuration was clicked the next screen will allow you to save the file. Save and finish with the X-Launch wizard. There will be a shortcut to launch the remote terminal from your desktop.
