The department is saddened by the passing of Professor Emerita Anne Tripp, who died on August 3, 2008, in Savannah, Ga.. The following is an excerpt from her obituary:

Anne Huber Tripp

Mrs. Anne Huber Tripp, 73, died Sunday, August 3, 2008, at Hospice Savannah. The New York native and resident of Michigan moved to The Landings in Savannah in 1992. She taught American History for more than 30 years at Oakland University in Rochester, Mich., where she retired as a full professor. She also lectured at the University of Michigan. She received her B.A. at Wheaton College in Massachusetts, where she was later a trustee for 18 years, and received her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. She also worked in Washington, D.C., as a cryptanalyst. She attended St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Surviving are her husband, Dr. Robert Tripp of Savannah; her brother, Charles C. Huber and wife Mary of New York; her nieces, Betsy Port of Massachusetts and Ann Zoghlin of Illinois; her nephew, John Huber of North Carolina; and seven grand nieces and nephews.
