Biography:
Cara Shelly earned a B.A., with majors in history and mathematics, from Oakland University in 1989 and has been teaching college history courses since 1993. At Oakland, she commonly teaches introductory courses in American history as well as an upper-level course on "The History of Michigan" and has elsewhere offered upper-level courses on "The Early American Republic" and "The Era of the Civil War." She reached Ph.D. candidacy (ABD) at the University of Michigan before running out of money in the midst of dissertation research and has remained more-or-less happily below the radar ever since.
