Oakland University has five unique residence halls located near the heart of campus, where all on-campus classrooms, computer labs, student services, recreational and dining facilities, and the library are less than a 10- minute walk away.
A variety of living arrangements and special interest programs are available to meet the needs and interests of each student. Options include double rooms and suites; private bathrooms and community bathrooms; coeducational floors; nonsmoking buildings; and living learning communities.
Oakland’s residence halls provide a safe environment for residents and guests. The outside doors of each hall are locked in the evening or monitored by Nightwatch staff. OU’s on-campus Police Department and Nightwatch staff join together in providing security, information and assistance day and night.

Residence Hall Services
Many services are available to residence hall students for no additional charge. Some of those services include:
Cable Television
The cost of basic cable is included in the residence hall room and board rate. Each residence hall room is wired for cable. To access this service, you must have a cable-ready television with a coaxial cable.
Computer/Internet Service
Students living on campus who have their own computers can access the wireless local area network to connect to the university’s computer system, Internet, e-mail, discussion groups and other computer data resources. A computer lab also is located in Hamlin Hall for the exclusive use of residence hall students which provides free paper and printing.
Laundry Service
Each residence hall has at least one laundry room for resident use only. Laundry service is included in the room and board rate for the residence halls; therefore, the machines are free of charge.
Meal Plans
| Students living in the residence halls must select a meal plan, which is included in the total cost for room and board. Each plan gives students the opportunity to eat at any of the dining locations on campus. Arrangements also can be made for box lunches and sick trays.
