American Studies Student Group
Formed in 2012, the American Studies Student Group at Oakland University aims to promote and support scholarly and personal involvement in the exploration and study of American history, culture, identity, and literature. To this end we aim to build a community of American Studies scholars that emphasizes participation and citizenship and that promotes greater knowledge of American Studies at Oakland University. We will work to ensure that this community reflects the diversity of scholarly pursuits, perspectives, and interdisciplinarity on which American Studies is founded. By encouraging and supporting multi-faceted approaches to the study of American history and culture we strive to make American Studies at Oakland University available to anyone in order to promote the coming together of disciplines for a deeper understanding.
