SECS Computing Resources
Transition from Ubuntu to Scientific Linux
We are in the process of transition all of our Linux computing resources from Ubuntu to Scientific Linux.
Rationale: Ubuntu's new gui ( Unity ) is performing poorly when accessing it remotely. Several of the Engineering Software is only supported on Red Hat Linux, since Scientific Linux is a rebuild of Red Hat, it is making our installs go much smother, and we our experiencing less bugs in the software.
New Software Requests
- Make requests by emailing secs@oakland.edu.
