Ralf Huss, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Huss has made significant contributions to the understanding and
functional role of mesenchymal stromal cells in mammalian hematopoiesis
and tissue regeneration.
He received his MD from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg
and was trained in immunology and transplantation medicine at the
Department of Immunology in Zurich, Switzerland and the Fred Hutchinson
Cancer Research Center in Seattle. Dr. Huss completed his residency in
surgical and anatomical pathology at the University of Munich, where he
eventually received his Ph.D. and was appointed Professor for Pathology.
In 2005, he joined Roche Diagnostics in Penzberg, Germany as
the Head of Histopathology and Tissue Biomarker. There he was strongly
involved in biomarker discovery to stratify cancer patients as part of a
global Personalized Healthcare Strategy. Eventually, Dr. Huss was
promoted VP in Pharma Research & Early Development and became the
Global Head of the Roche Therapeutic Cell Initiative.
In October 2011, Dr. Huss joined the apceth management team as a
co-founder, managing director and chief scientific officer. He was
also appointed to numerous advisory boards and is currently also an
Adjunct Professor of Regenerative Medicine at the Wake Forest Institute
for Regenerative Medicine in Winston-Salem.
