ATiB students build business and nonprofit Web sites, under faculty supervision.
Each site has a front end and a back end. The front end is what site visitors see. The back end is used to update and manage the site. A capable back end makes a business Web site more valuable.
A good back end:
- Does not require technical expertise.
- Works through a Web browser, so there are no extra software costs.
- Lets a company update its site quickly, to take advantage of business opportunities.
- Pushs update tasks to knowledgeable employees. Service people update service pages. Sales people update sales pages. HR people update HR pages. And so on.
- Reuses information. For example, on the IPS site, employee information is entered once, and reused in five different parts of the site.
- Supports basic workflows, like hiring, document management, etc.
ATiB uses the content management system Drupal. Drupal is open source. It's fast and secure. Drupal runs on inexpensive Web hosting accounts.
ATiBers know business and IT. We are not artists. We ask companies to buy professionally designed themes, and stock photography.
