David Dulio

David Dulio, Ph.D., is associate professor and chair of Oakland University’s Department of Political Science. Specializing in political campaigns and elections, Dr. Dulio is the author or editor of eight books, including
Vital Signs: Perspectives on the Health of American Campaigning.
Along with introductory courses in political science, Dr. Dulio teaches classes on Congress and the legislative process, political parties and interest groups, and elections. His research interests are the electoral process, the professionalism of elections in the United States and the role of money in elections.
Dr. Dulio completed his undergraduate education at the University of Michigan and earned master’s and doctoral degrees in political science from American University in Washington, D.C.
After receiving his Ph.D., Dr. Dulio worked on Capitol Hill as an American Political Science Association Congressional Fellow in the office of then-House Republican Conference Chairman, J.C. Watts Jr. He has been at OU since fall 2002.
In addition to his activities as a professor and scholar, Dr. Dulio often contributes expertise to local and national news media. His insight and analysis have been published by prominent outlets, including
