CONGRATULATIONS: Eileen Johnson Appointed to CETL Faculty Fellowship
Eileen Johnson, Associate Professor of Educational Leadership, has been appointed as a Faculty Fellow to work with the Oakland University Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning. Faculty Fellows will work weekly with the CETL for a year, helping to improve and assess teaching across campus. CONGRATULATIONS: Graduate Student Research Award Recipient, Joel Lane
Joel Lane is the recipient of the Graduate Student Research Award for his project, "Attachment Relationships and Attitudes Toward College Graduation". In the award letter, Vice Provost for Research, Dorothy A. Nelson notes that Joel's collaboration with Sachin Jain, Assistant Professor of Counseling, "precisely reflects the 'unique educational experience' that we believe characterizes Oakland University." Congratulations to Joel and his collaborator, Dr. Jain.

Allen E. Ivey is Distinguished University Professor (Emeritus) at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and Courtesy Professor at the University of South Florida, Tampa. Dr. Ivey is a past-president and Fellow of the Society of Counseling Psychology of the American Psychological Association and a life member of the American Counseling Association. He is known as the originator of the influential microcounseling framework for the teaching of interviewing, counseling, and therapy skills. The author or co-author of over 40 books and 200 articles, his works have been translated into 22 languages. In 2006, he turned his attention to the question how neuroscience informs the counseling and therapy process and believes that the cutting edge for neuroscience in counseling will become central.
