No Health Care for You Symposium

The 2012 Joy James Williams Lecture & Workshop Series

In response to the national debate over providing health care services to the American people, the Honors College at Oakland University recently hosted a symposium titled "No Health Care for You?: Medical Care for Women, Infants, and Underserved Populations".

Honors College students (Nasia Choudhury & Subha Hanif) joined local physician (Dr. Amy Seger), and the dean of OU's School of Nursing (Kerri Schuiling) in exploring the issues surrounding access to health care for diverse communities.

Topics of discussions included cultural issues which affect how people view health care in America, particularly foreign refugees who need access to health care information and resources.
