New administrative rules impacting educator certification

In the summer of 2011, the state of Michigan passed several school and tenure reform bills.  As such, the Michigan Department of Education created new administrative rules to comply with the new laws. The updated rules will impact all levels of teacher certification. The revised Teacher Certification Code is available in its entirety at http://www7.dleg.state.mi.us/orr/Files/AdminCode/980_2011-018ED_AdminCode.pdf.

Our webpages pertaining to the first time Provisional Renewal, second time Provisional Renewal and application for the Professional Certificate have all been revised to reflect these changes. When viewing the requirements for each, please ensure that you are looking at the correct page for the time period during which you plan to renew - either before or after September 1, 2013.

Please note that the state mandated reading diagnostics class (RDG 510 at Oakland University) will still be required to advance from the Provisional Certificate to the Professional certificate.
