Types of Financial Assistance: Scholarships

Oakland University William Beaumont Scholarship Awards

OUWB strives to be as equitable as possible when making scholarship awards to our students. Some of the criteria that are examined when determining eligibility are:

• Cumulative GPA

• MCAT scores

• Leadership experience

• Service orientation

• Research accomplishments

• Geographic diversity

• First-generation college student

• Second profession

• Disadvantaged status

• Cultural competence (bilingual, study abroad, medical missions to underdeveloped countries)

Merit based awards

The information you provide to the school during the admission process such as your grades and MCAT scores are reviewed to aid in determining your eligibility. OUWB does not require a separate scholarship application.

Need based awards

You are required to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and include parent income and asset information in order for OUWB to determine your eligibility for primarily need-based institutional awards. You must also provide verification documents such as copies of your/your parents’ federal tax transcripts from the IRS.

If you receive a scholarship award, you are notified promptly and it is incorporated into your financial aid package, which may require adjustment to other aid.
